Traditional Wedding Photography: Portfolio Overview
I’m a documentary wedding photographer / wedding photojournalist with a diverse photographic skill-set acquired through years of varied photographic practice. My wedding photography is enriched by the technical and creative elements of my documentary and portrait photography; however, the images in my portfolios will tell you more about my style of wedding photography than I can write here. I’m passionate about creating truly original wedding images that are full of romance, excitement, tenderness, joy, comedy, anxiety and drama. Although I will make some formal photographs during the day, I’m generally more of an observer than a director. My assistant, Rebecca Dell, is a fashion and fine art photographer with a BA Honours Degree in Photography from the University of the Arts, London. Together we are able to cover a wedding day in its entirety.
I accept a limited number of wedding commissions each year, which is important because it allows me to give each client my complete and undivided attention. I like digital cameras, but prefer traditional large and medium format cameras, which is why I still shoot exclusively on film. It is important to work with a photographer whose work you admire. If you are looking for a photographer who will provide you with hundreds of digital images on a disk, I’m not the right person for you. I’m sure you will agree that it is much better to have a smaller number of beautifully presented photographs than a disk containing hundreds of mediocre digital images. I offer a bespoke product, which can be tailored to meet your individual requirements. Prices will vary depending on your brief, but I offer a flexible pricing structure. I can be commissioned to photograph small weekday weddings and civil ceremonies. I’m based in North London, but I’m happy to photograph a wedding anywhere in the UK, or overseas. The images in Portfolio 02 were created during a small midweek wedding.
As a wedding photographer, I specialise in reportage / documentary wedding photography (also known as wedding photojournalism). However, I am more than happy to create more traditional types of wedding photographs - if that’s what is desired.
